Leadership and Enagement

I have actively taken on leadership roles within various school clubs and activities, demonstrating my ability to lead and engage with my academic community.

UIBC Case Competition

Securing 1st place in the UIBC case competition marks a significant milestone in my journey as a team leader. Leading a dedicated team, I orchestrated our strategy and fostered a collaborative environment that was pivotal in our success. We held intensive daily meetings, which were instrumental in understanding and addressing the client’s needs with tailored, systematic solutions. Our collective efforts culminated in a compelling presentation that showcased our ability to analyze complex data and deliver strategic insights with clarity and precision. This victory not only reflects our team’s potential for growth and excellence but also reinforces my commitment to pursuing further opportunities in the realm of consulting.

PwC Case Competition

As the team leader, I built and led a team of 5 and organized regular team meetings for 3 hours every day for a week. I identified clients’ needs and proposed customized, systematic solutions for professionalizing company management. I coordinated team efforts to produce high-quality deliverables, including a 10-minute presentation with detailed solutions and impact analysis. It was an eye-opening new experience and the start of my journey in consulting.

CrunchyZoo Literature & Linguistics Club

As the co-chair, I fully realized the effectiveness of leadership in the development of the activity. Through designing various club activities including launching a Chinese sign language program, International Linguistics Olympiad training, and organizing a national linguistics competition named Shanghai Opening for Universal Linguists (SOUL), I successfully doubled the membership of our club within one year.

Dystopian Fiction Club

Collaborating with my fellow co-chair, we organized 20+ hours of club events including book discussions, movie nights, and field trips. Our club members completed 3 dystopian novels and several related critiques during the semester. For each book, I facilitated in-depth discussions that encouraged critical thinking and literary analysis among members, fostering a deeper understanding of dystopian themes and their relevance to contemporary society.

Teamwork

I have consistently showcased my ability to work effectively within diverse teams to achieve common goals, highlighting my proficiency in collaborative efforts both within and beyond academia.

PPMT (Peer Potential Mock Trial)

As the team leader of PPMT, I’ve taken on the roles of a judge, a lawyer, and even a witness. I participated in national tournaments where I researched legal scenarios in depth and analyzed cases in detail to construct compelling arguments and strategies. I engaged in court debates and assertively pointed out flaws in opposing teams’ statements while tenaciously defending our own arguments. I also trained new members using my knowledge and expertise to help them navigate the complex world of mock trials.

Undergraduate Consulting Club

I worked with the club executive team to help other members practice case interviews for consulting in the Case Buddies Program, honing their problem-solving skills and interview techniques. Through the UCC Prep Program, I gained valuable insights into the consulting industry and networked with top consulting firms such as McKinsey, Bain & Company, and KPMG. Through the Mentorship Program, I connected with a senior student in Kenan-Flagler pursuing a career in consulting, who offered me great support in helping me navigate the complexities of the consulting recruitment process and make informed career decisions.
